There are two ways to gain the electric current, first through chemical reaction from a battery and the other is to gain it through implementing electromagnetic field. the electromagnetic field simply is a rotating field of electrons that rotates around a group of iron plates that are connected to electric current. when placed inside a special wire wingdings it starts rotating and generates any type of electro-mechanical power.

"Michael Faraday" have discovered that when a conducting wire is passing through a magnetic field, the wire itself generates an electric current.The easiest way to apply these applications is to rotate a conducting wire inside a permanent magnetic field, which is what "Faraday" has applied in 1831, not very strange to say that our life since that day has changed forever.

Without power, all modern life means will vanish, no lights, no industry, no entertainment and no transportation. the first electromagnetic generator form was a small hand rotated generator. while recently in the big power generation stations the generators conducted by a mechanical means, also in the coal, oil or nuclear stations the generators are conducted by turbines and it's connected directly to the generators, this combination called turbine generators.
In the Hydro-power stations the generators are conducted by water turbines, because those turbines depend on the hydro-power, it's built in the areas of natural waterfall and human-made waterfalls locations, for this purpose the governments built dams in order to cage water for the purpose of unleashing it on demand of its turbines power factor, which is a living picture of converting the mechanical power into an electric power.

The British scientist "John Fleming" have extrapolated the right-hand rule which helps in determining the direction of the generated electric current in any conductor when rotated in an electromagnetic field. If the rotating Conductor is a wire winding then the current will change it's direction every half circle, because the current initiated by this type of winding changes from zero to maximum in a specific direction, then it will return to the zero state when the winding is orthogonal on the field. and vice versa and this frequent current change are called alternating current. Frequency is the number that this phenomenon happen in one second. All the currents generated in the power stations are alternative currents because it's voltage can be altered easily by a transformer.

In the small generators like the bicycle dynamo, for example, the electromagnetic field is gained from a permanent magnet, otherwise the huge generators it rotates inside gigantic magnets that work by electricity and rotates inside a stator with wire winding.
