MAGNETISM.

The ancient Greek Greeks knew the magnet stone and its ability to attract iron pieces around 500 years BC This stone is one of the iron ore known as Magnetite. The word magnets are called on each material to have the characteristic pick up pieces of iron and called the characteristic itself magnetic. Magnetite is a compound of iron and oxygen.
